Top of the Town: Discovering NYC's Best Rooftops for Events
Spring is here, and if you have yet to secure venues for your May or June events, we are happy to help. New York City, with its iconic skyline and vibrant energy, is home to some of the most spectacular rooftop event spaces. The right location and an impressive setting will have a direct impact on your attendance and guest experience.
Join us as we explore the best rooftops in the Big Apple, where the skyline elevates your next celebration to new heights.
We are swooning over the Greenhouse at Nine Orchard, a chic and elegant indoor and outdoor rooftop space at the Lower East Side landmark hotel. Its bamboo trellis, beautiful landscaping, and 60-foot domed tempietto make you feel like you’re in Europe, if not for the wrap-around views of New York City. This is a special and unique space for a corporate cocktail party downtown. Just note, they don’t allow weddings!
I produced events at The Top of The Standard, aka Boom Boom Room, for five years and still consider this one of the best event spaces in NYC. The stunning Roman and Williams designed space is perfect for around 200 guests, with 360 degree views of Manhattan. The Boom Boom Room used to be a nightclub but is now strictly for events. There is a small outdoor space above the iconic bar, but your guests will mostly enjoy the main lounge and bar inside. With a room this gorgeous, you don’t need to be outside (and bonus that you don’t have to think about a rain plan).
The 38th Floor Loft/Terrace at the Virgin Hotel in NoMad is the most versatile of our recommendations, with a 2,800 square foot open space to accommodate any occasion from a product launch to a networking reception, a meeting or a seated dinner. The views from the 38th floor are spectacular, and as one of the newer hotels on this list, this may be a draw for your guests. Centrally located, we recommend this space if guests are coming from all over the city.
When we scheduled a site tour for the rooftop at the Hard Rock Hotel in Times Square recently, we were skeptical, expecting a touristy atmosphere. However, we were pleasantly surprised with its nicely designed bar and spacious outdoor terraces. The location is perfect for guests coming from midtown, and with the Hard Rock’s focus on music, it’s no surprise their sound equipment is top of the line.
New York City's rooftops provide a remarkable perspective of the city, turning ordinary events into extraordinary celebrations. Whether you're in the mood for a chic cocktail lounge, a playful rooftop bar, or a serene garden escape, NYC's elevated venues have something for every taste.
